Joseph Guidice, Jr

Joseph Guidice, Jr. is 47-year Charter Member of Leo Laders Squadron #130 in Thiells, NY.
    Joe’s eligibility is through his father, Joseph Guidice, Sr. who served in the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam, and his maternal grandfather Leslie A. Gallo, a WW2 US Navy veteran who served aboard the USS Alaska in the Pacific Theater.
  He has served in several roles including in his squadron, including Squadron Commander for twelve consecutive years. He has also previously served as a 9th District Vice Commander, acting District Commander and Adjutant. In 2023 his squadron awarded him Honorary Life Membership.

Joe has previously served as a Detachment Vice Commander (1/9) for 8 years, and has also served on the Detachment Membership Committee, and he also served as the Public Relations Commission Chairman for 6 years. At the National level he has served as the vice-Chairman of the Public Media and Communications Commission. He is a graduate of the American Legion College of NY, and the National Sons of The American University Program. 

    A lifelong resident of Rockland County, Joe is a retired law enforcement officer, having served over 39 years with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office. His career included corrections, patrol, and detective assignments, working in undercover narcotics and computer crimes assignments, criminal investigations, fugitive investigations, arson and bomb investigations, and he was the first K9 handler in the department’s history. During his career he received numerous awards including two commendations for Meritorious Service, a Life Saving Award for preventing a suicide on the Bear Mountain Bridge, an award from the NYS Police PBA for Outstanding Service in the Narcotics Task Force and a Distinguished Police Duty commendation for his role in the high-speed pursuit and arrest of four armed robbery suspects. He also received a Rockland County American Legion Law and Order Recognition award for investigative work on a serial arsonist case. He spent the last several years of his career as a Detective Sergeant commanding the Counterterrorism and Emergency Management Units.

Joe is married to his wife, Gail, and has three daughters, Andrea, Stefanie, and Ann-Marie, a son-in-law, Brett, and two grandsons, Oliver, and Mack who are both SAL members. His other main passions include the outdoors, especially hunting with his bird dog, Ginger, fishing, and playing keyboards, blues harmonica, and singing in local bands.

     As a Commander’s Project, in addition to Commander Miga’s project, Joe has selected the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which since 9/11, has been helping America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. They are also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11, 2001. His theme this year “Staying On Point.”
