Membership report as of today December 6th

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Past Department Commander Doug Malin. Doug served the New York American Legion in many ways over the years and is best known for his tireless work as Department Photographer. He was a friend and mentor to everyone who met him. Losing Doug is devasting to us all.

Once again, The American Legion Department of New York will be parading down the ‘Canyon of Heroes’ (Fifth Avenue) for the annual NYC Veterans Day parade.

Date: Saturday, November 11, 2023
NOTE EARLIER START TIME!
Parade: 9:30am – 12:30pm
TV Broadcast: 9:30am – 12:00pm
Parade Route: North on Fifth Avenue, between 26th St & 48th St, New York (Manhattan), NY

Formation (Assembly) Area: Groups and vehicles will assemble on 24th Street ~ 29th Street, between Fifth & Sixth Avenues (west and northwest of Madison Square Park). Selected groups and vehicles will assemble on Fifth Avenue itself, or on other temporary holding streets as directed.

The Detachment of New York is a saddened to announce the October 26, 2023 passing of Kerri-Ann Kraetzer, wife of Legislative Commission and Public Relations Commission member Kenneth Kraezter.
Arrangements are:
Visiting Tuesday October 31st from 4 - 8 PM at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home in White Plains. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Pelham Manor, NY. Internment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Providence College Saint Francis Prep in Queens, or the Brooklyn of Remembrance https://www.brooklyn911wall.org/
