Mid-Winter DEC Meeting 2025
OFFICIAL CALL TO THE MID-WINTER CONFERENCE & DEC MEETING
Pursuant to Article 2, Section 2 of the By-Laws of the Sons of The American Legion,
Detachment of New York, a meeting of the Detachment Executive Committee is
hereby called by Detachment Commander Gaither Espey. All DEC members as
authorized in the Expense Authorizations are expected to attend. Most are expected to
submit a typewritten report. Refer to the DEC Manual for a full explanation of
attendance, report and conduct policies. ALL MEMBERS OF THE SONS OF THE
AMERICAN LEGION ARE INVITED TO ATTEND!

LODGING:
A block of rooms is being held at the Marriott Albany, 189 Wolf Road, Albany,
NY12205. Rooms are $116.00/single/double. Deadline for reservations is January 8th,
2025. Please bring your own tax-exempt form. You can either use the QR code or call
the hotel for reservations at 518-458-8444. If calling, mention you are with the Sons of
The American Legion.
DEPARTMENT MID-WINTER DINNER
The 106
th Annual Department Mid-Winter Dinner will take place Saturday, January 18,
2025 with a Reception at 6:00 pm followed by Dinner at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $65.00
each and the reservation form is included. Please return your dinner reservation and
check to Department Headquarters no later than Friday, January 3rd, 2025. Tickets
must be picked up before 3:00 pm January 18, 2025 at The American Legion Office,
Room 112, The Desmond.
MID-WINTER REPORTING
All District Commanders will email their pre-submitted reports to the Adjutant no later
than Friday, January 10, 2025.
All Chairmen will give their reports before the Executive Committee, including
Americanism, Children & Youth, Finance, Internal Affairs (including Membership,
Conventions & Meetings and Member Training & Development), Legislative, Public
Relations and VA & R. Detachment Officers will also be reporting.

All Chairmen, or their representative, are expected to attend their counterpart American
Legion Committee meeting at The Desmond and report back to the Detachment as
deemed necessary. All SONS members are also welcomed to attend Legion
Committee meetings. All Legion Committee meetings are held at The Desmond. The
complete schedule for The American Legion will be available on the Department
website.
*There is a $20 registration fee this year for all attendees*
A registration form is attached, make checks/money orders payable to: “Detachment of NY” and
submit to the Department office at: 1304 Park Boulevard, Troy, NY 12180 by January 1st. No cash
will be accepted onsite at the registration table.
